Signs & Facades: Melaka

24 November 2016

Continuing our photo series on signboards and store facades, we visit Melaka to document what the town has to offer.

More than a legendary landmark where Parameswara began his rule of the Malay Peninsula, Melaka has been a town of many attractions since days of old. In 2007, UNESCO granted Melaka the title of  "Historic City of the Straits of Malacca", as a reminder and appreciation of how pivotal the Malacca port used to be not just as a trading ground for goods from the East and West, but a melting pot of multiple cultures; forming a strong identity of what Melaka is now. 500 years on, Melaka takes pride in many things—Baba Nyonya culture, weekend getaways, and a charm that is unmatched. Bask in nostalgia as we capture the rustic facades of Malacca town.
