iM4U’s largest volunteering movement returns with an event bigger than ever!
Malaysian volunteerism platform iM4U has been empowering the youth through their programs over the years. Launched in 2014, Volunteer Malaysia is iM4U’s largest volunteering activity, aimed to nurture the spirit of volunteerism and social activism in the young. This year, the event will be taking place on 24 September 2016 and iM4U will join forces with GIATMARA, Kolej Komuniti, Politeknik, Kolej Vokasional, government agencies and local authorities nationwide to make the event happen. They will also be partnering with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) and Mr. DIY.
Last year, the event drew in almost 250,000 volunteering hours nationwide with activities like tree planting, giving public spaces a facelift, combating dengue, collecting recyclable waste and more. This year, Volunteer Malaysia goes international with volunteers that are based in South Korea and Egypt via iM4U’s International Outreach Centre in hopes of clocking in more hours.
Four activities will be carried out at Volunteer Malaysia 2016 with the help of iM4U’s main pillars of PRIHATIN, Green Team, Public Art Movement and Better City. The activities include refurbishing homes for the less fortunate by PRIHATIN, promoting sustainable living practices through tree plantations by Green Team, and beautifying public places contributions by Public Art Movement. Volunteer Malaysia’s new program Better City will be targeting social responsibilities to create a better city for its citizens.
Local celebrities participating in this year’s Volunteer Malaysia are Fiza, Tyler, Jiggy, TV, Nadiyah Shahab, Thanuja Ananthan, Baki Zainal and Atu Maharaja Lawak, as well as iM4U ambassadors Anand Rajaram, Faiz Dickie, Sangeeta and Sazzy Falak. They will be taking part in the activities around Malaysia. Here are the cities that will be participating in Volunteer Malaysia on 24 September:
