Malaysia’s Shopping Spectrum

05 April 2016

Malls, flea markets, high end, vintage … Malaysia is a retail paradise with something for everyone.

Malaysia may be most known for its beautiful islands and breathtaking rainforests, but did you know that it is also known for being one of best shopping destinations in the world? A country where you can find some of the biggest shopping malls in the world, Malaysians definitely take their shopping very seriously. You could even say that it’s the nation’s unofficial pastime!

Rated number four by CNN in 2013 as one of the “world’s 12 best shopping cities”, Kuala Lumpur truly is a shopper’s paradise where one can find just about anything and everything imaginable.

There are major nationwide shopping mega sales that happen throughout the year to coincide with the tourist peak seasons. During these periods, you can find thousands of tourists and locals trawling malls and markets, taking full advantage of the affordable bargains and crazy discounts everywhere they go.

To take full advantage of what Kuala Lumpur has to offer, one should also look to straying off the beaten tourist path by visiting lesser known locations. In places like Campbell Complex, you can find handmade leather goods, pre-loved treasures and even Japanese denim!

Whether it’s luxury goods, tech gadgets, secondhand furniture or traditional souvenirs you seek, there is something for everyone here in Kuala Lumpur. If a gigantic RM75,000 chandelier can be purchased, imagine what else can be found in this city?
