The most famous dish of the region is the Laksa Kedah. Originating from the state of Kedah, this variation of the laksa comprises of thick rice noodles cooked a tangy fish broth and garnished with a refreshing array of herbs. The other icon of northern cuisine is the Nasi Kandar. This delicacy is distinctly of Indian origin. Nasi Kandar is boiled white rice served with a selection of thick, savoury curries usually accompanied by a side order of vegetables.
